A new offering in Edinburgh

Meditation Edinburgh is part of RWM Education, an organisation dedicated to making meditation available to as many people as possible.

Our goal is to help people find tools and techniques that can improve the quality of their daily life. Whether looking for a bit of a easy stress relief, or looking for ways to dramatically change their relationship with their mind and emotions; whether someone has no experience at all, or has been meditating for decades, we believe we can be of service.

The classes are mostly taught by Justyn Comer who has been meditating for over 30 years and teaching since 1999. His style is ecumenical, which is to say there is no single style or tradition he teaches, rather he introduces a range of techniques to give a broad overview of different types of meditation so that people can find what works best for them. His book, Meditation for Life, was a #1 Amazon bestseller in Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA.

Real World Meditation

We aren’t religious, though we are borrowing from all the world’s religions in finding techniques that work. Our philosophy is what we call ‘real world meditation’. That is to say that we’re not dogmatic about a style or tradition. We’re going to cover many different types of meditation with a view to the practical benefits for modern life, in the real world.

The goal is to help you find the best meditation practice for you. Something you like, you find easy enough, and that you can come back to, on your own, whenever you want or need it.

Details Matter

Many meditation classes basically invite you to sit down, watch your breath, tell you to return your attention to the breath when you get distracted. And then they let you sit with that for twenty years to try to work it out. We don’t do that. One of the things that makes us different is that we go into the detail to explain exactly what it is you’re trying to do in meditation. You’ll know precisely what and how to do it. There is also way too much misunderstanding about meditation so we’re going to clear that up as well and show you simple, easy to follow techniques that we promise you will be able to follow.

Why Meditate?

The other thing a lot of classes do is to bring you in, give you the basic instruction, let you sit in silence for a while, and hope you see and experience the benefits. Again, we don’t do that. We are going to help you see how your mind works, explain why it works that way, why sometimes it works for you but often it works against you, and then how and why meditation can help you develop a new relationship with your own mind.

Practical – it’s more than just stress relief

We’re going to show you how and why meditation is so practical for your daily life. We know that most people come to meditation just to feel a bit better. The world is increasingly stressful and often overwhelming. Record numbers of people are looking for mental health options. Meditation can help. With a 30 second practice we can help you start to feel better.

BUT – we also believe meditation is much more than just a relaxation device. It can help every aspect of your life. Health, happiness, career, academics, athletics, relationships, creativity, joy, love, clarity, focus, concentration and much, much more are all improved.
